Learning objectives or goals help learners engage with their learning experience and contribute to successful learning transfer. The conscious effort of setting program objectives is proven to increase learner buy-in and motivation to complete the program and reach their goals.

Learning Objectives in Academy

  • Learning objectives can be pre-defined for all learners of a particular program
  • Learners can set their own personal goals
  • Learners can rate the pre-defined objectives during the Program Onboarding, as well as add their own objectives:

Learners can also revisit their objectives at any time throughout the program.
NOTE: You must have the Program Homepage toggled on in Program Settings > Configuration for the learners to revisit their objectives and share with their cohort.

Sharing

Participants can choose to share their objectives and ratings with their classmates, via the Share button displayed below.

Tip: The class's learning objectives are automatically shared with program Facilitators, Coaches and Coordinators.

This image shows the learning objectives window for a learner. Within their program, the user has selected 'program overview' and then 'learning objectives' from the left-side menu. The learning objectives window opens up with three tabs across the top: My Objectives, Class Objectives, and Individual Responses. There is also 'share settings' button highlighted to show this is how a learner would opt-in to sharing their objective responses and thus see the other responses as well. Below is a recap of the learning objectives and how the learner rated them.

Set Up

To set up objectives for your program:

  • Edit the Program
  • Go to the Objectives tab in the left menu
  • Add objectives to your program and determine the settings for learners. Remember that sometimes less is more!

Tip: If your Academy program is linked to a Guroo Pro program, you can import your learning objectives directly from the Learning Canvas in Guroo Pro.

Tip: You can disable these settings if you choose not to allow the program's learners to rate the objectives or to add their own personal objectives.

Enable Objectives in the Onboarding

If you have enabled the Program Onboarding feature for your learning program, you can choose to include the Learning Objectives in the onboarding, so that learners are encouraged to engage with the objectives at the very beginning of the program.

Reviewing Class Objectives - Facilitators, Coaches and Coordinators

The 'Class Objectives' view is available to Facilitators, Coaches and Coordinators, and averages/aggregates the learner ratings for each of the objectives across the entire class. Learners can also view these ratings and averages, if other participants have chosen to share.

The spider diagram shows the spread of ratings across the class and lists the individual objectives below. Click the More button to view the column chart for responses.

In Individual Responses you can see a clear picture of the learners who have interacted with the objectives and those who haven't yet done so, along with the average class rating for each objective.

This image shows the objectives view for a facilitator within a program. Facilitation view has been selected in the top menu, with program overview then learning objectives sub heading selected. This opens the learning objectives window. There are three tabs across the top of the window that allow the admin user to choose between Program Objectives, Class Objectives and Individual Responses. Class objectives is selected in this example, showing a spider plot graph of the response trends across the cohort. Below the graph is a list of each objective with more detailed information, like an average score.
