The Posts and Announcements feature enables course facilitators or coordinators to create personalised posts for their cohorts, with the ability to send participants emails notifying them of new posts, share resources, encourage cohort discussions, and pin important information directly to the course homepage.

Activating the Posts & Announcements Feature

To enable Posts & Announcements on a course, make sure you are in Edit mode. Then, navigate to the Program Settings and select Configuration. Under the Set Up section, toggle on the Posts & Announcements option. Once enabled, the Posts & Announcements tab will appear in the left-side menu when you're out of Edit mode.

You will notice a new option under Configuration, Learner Can Create Discussions, once you toggle Posts & Announcements on. Enabling this option will allow learners to create their own posts and announcements independently. Learners will not be able to enable email notifications for their posts, nor will they be able to pin them to the program homepage. All learner posts will have commenting enabled.

Write a Posts & Announcement

In Facilitate view, navigate to the Posts & Announcements section in the left-side menu and click Add. You can then:

  • Enter the Notice Title and the message you wish to convey.
  • Upload or link resources.
  • Select when the post will be posted, now or scheduled. If scheduled, choose a date and time for posting.
  • Send an email notification to learners with the message.
  • Enable discussions to allow learners to respond within the course.
  • Pin the post to the homepage, which will ensure it appears at the top of the Posts & Announcements section and on the learners’ Program Home page.

Once complete, click Post Now or Schedule Post, dependant on when the post will be released, note that Scheduled Posts will save into the Drafts tab.
Alternatively, you can choose Save Draft & Exit to save it as a draft.

If you have chosen to schedule your post it will appear in the Drafts tab of the Posts and Announcements screen.
From here you can confirm the Scheduled Post, or choose to Post Now. If you confirm the Scheduled Post, it will move to the Scheduled tab, ready to be released at the time determined.
